Grade 2 Unit 3 Measurement

Unit 3 Measurement

Content Emphasis/ Big Ideas

In this unit, students extend their understanding of measurement from nonstandard units in kindergarten and first grade to standard units of measure. Students explore why we use standard units of measurement, how to select an appropriate unit of measure, and what tools to use based upon the attribute being measured. Because this is the first time students use standard units of measure, a great deal of vocabulary is introduced in this unit.
