Grade 3 Math Unit 5 Geometry
Unit 5 Geometry
In this unit, students expand their knowledge of identifying, describing, comparing, and contrasting plane and geometric figures. They also learn specific components (points, line segments, rays, and lines) of plane geometry. They learn to identify and describe congruent and noncongruent plane figures. In addition, students explore patterns involving geometric shapes as well as create and extend patterns using a variety of representations including number sequences, tables, and pictures.
Standards:
- MTH.3.11 Identify and draw representations of points, lines, line segments, rays, and angles.
- MTH.3.12.a Define polygon.
- MTH.3.12.b Identify and name polygons with 10 or fewer sides.
- MTH.3.12.c Combine and subdivide polygons with three or four sides and name the resulting polygon(s).
- MTH.3.13 Identify and describe congruent and noncongruent figures.
